Attempted Photo Shoot

We had an absolutely gorgeous (I know I spelled that word wrong- get over it) day on Sunday so Joe & I took Kaleb over to the park by our house to try to get some good shots of the little man. I'm not sure we accomplished our goal- but we did end up with some cute ones. Enjoy the 1 year old (tear, tear....I still can't believe he's 1)!

Happy Birthday Button!

Oh my, how has it possibly been an entire year since the most handsome little boy ever was born??

love at first sight...

brand new...

so small...

ugh, it is so hard when you are 4 days old...

But some how it has been a whole year- and my baby is no longer a baby. He's walking, "talking" & doing all sorts of big boy stuff. It's so amazing to watch, but makes the Mama a little sad at the same time. It all happens so very, very quickly...

This past weekend we had his first birthday party! Family & friends gathered to celebrate- and in true Kaleb fashion he slept through it all (or at least most of it)! He would not take a nap in the AM so when his guests arrived at 1pm he said his hello's and then took a nap for about 2 hours.

When he finally woke up he managed to sneak in all the "first birthday musts" before the party had ended! It wasn't my best picture taking day, but at least we have some shots to share.

He loves his new table from the Bahr's & Mathewson's!

He wasn't the best at opening presesnts, but these ribbons caught his eye!

On to the good stuff- shockingly, he loved the cupcake (he doesn't take after me at all!!)...

After cake & presents it was off to play outside! All in all, I'd say it was a great day :)

O N E

The Big 3-0

Well, it happened. I left my care-free twenties and have entered my thirties. Thanks to all the wonderful family & friends who helped me celebrate :) After party-ing it up one year old style (yes, yes blog post coming about Kaleb-- it's taking forever to upload pics) we hit the town Superior style!!

Visit with Grandma & Grandpa

On Labor Day (yes peeps, I'm that far behind) Joe took Kaleb to Ashland to surprise Grandma Ann for a early birthday celebration. They had breakfast and played and played and played.

Enjoy a few photos :)

Little Boys

Short & sweet....just a little glimpse into the fun Kaleb & his adorable cousin Dayton are going to have as they grow up together!

Health update: Kaleb has an ear infection. He's been a trooper, but the poor kid is having a tough time sleeping. Fingers crossed he makes it longer than 1-1.5 hours tonight before waking up in pain :(.

REALLY?!?!

I find myself with a bit of time to blog today because I'm home from work with a sick child :(

While I feel absolutely awful that my little man is suffering, I must ask him why couldn't he catch this little bug in any of the 12 previous weeks I was home? Or perhaps next week, when his grandparents will be taking turns watching him because our daycare provider will be gone? Nope-- he got sick on the SECOND DAY OF SCHOOL!! Not the most convenient for his Mommy or Daddy :(

A Day in the Park...

There is nothing my little man loves more than being in motion- whether it's in the car, the stroller, his bike or on a swing....he's a happy boy. Last night we strolled over to our little park and got some shots of Kaleb enjoying life!

rollin' to the park

he had some HILARIOUS facial expressions & a great hair do!

And lastly, he was lovin' life on the lady bug :)

We hope that everyone has a wonderful Labor Day Weekend...we're soaking up the sun & relaxation, come Tuesday we're back to being teachers!

PS- which also means my posts may be few & far between! How does one work, take care of a child & a husband AND find time for a blog?!?!?!

Adults Only!

Joe has been a busy, busy boy lately....

Joe's Grandpa Leo has the BEST PICKLE RECIPE known to man-kind, and this summer Joe made our first batch of pickles. To make it even more special, we had Grandpa Leo's big kettle to boil the brine in :) We have to wait until Thanksgiving time to try them out....it's killing me!! I'll keep you posted on their delicious-ness!!

While I suppose the pickles COULD be given to children, Joe's other project is strictly for ADULTS ONLY! He's been talking about trying to brew his own beer for over a year now, and this summer he finally found the time to make it happen. He began the process almost a month ago and was just able to bottle it this morning.

54 bottles of goodness

Unfortunately I'm not a beer lover (which I secretly think Joe likes so he doesn't have to share with me)....so after the first sips are taken, I'll let you know how the brew master did :)

Kaleb was smiling like crazy yesterday & I got a great shot of his teeth :) We are at a total of 6 right now, but we've got two more coming in on top!!
