Cousin Love

This afternoon while my nephew Dayton hit the slopes and got quality Mommy-Daddy time, Joe, Kaleb & I got to spend quality time with Taya. She's so stinkin' cute and has quite the personality. We had so much fun with her!!

Like Father, Like Son

Well, it seems my little man is following in his daddy's footsteps! We made our first official trip to the ER on Friday night due to an injury :(

Kaleb was running over to one of his toys, tripped, and went head first into the edge of the toy. Poor kid must have hit at just the right angle because he got a deep cut on his forehead. He actually didn't cry long or seem to upset but it was gushing blood. We got the blood to stop a bit & threw him in the truck.

He was a champ at the ER & actually got "glued" back together. What a fabulous invention that glue is-- I was wondering how we were going to have to hold him down to get stitches. All in all- he hit his head at 6:45 & we were pulling back into our garage at 7:15 so it was a quick trip.

Below is a picture of K on the way home from the ER...and the second is of him the next morning. As you can see, he seems to be surviving just fine!

"Guy Time"

Joe & Kaleb have already started a manly bonding routine which Joe has coined "Guy Time." My boys disappear into our office- which Joe has unofficially claimed as the man cave- and, well, apparently do guy stuff.

So far their manly routine consists of chatting & reading Field & Stream :) Joe sits in the rocking chair (unless Kaleb charms his way into it) and Kaleb sits at his Elmo table.

I've tried to enter the man cave during this very important time & have gotten no cooperation from either of my boys in regards to photos. These pics Joe took with his phone will have to do!!

We've Still Got It!

Last weekend Joe & I met most of my college roommates and a few of their husbands in Eau Claire. It's so hard to believe we are ALL 30 (except Lis, who gets one more year in her 20's)!! We had a blast, and showed those college kids we can still party.....

The Christmas Card

Each year I snap and snap and snap away with my camera in hopes of getting that one perfect picture that I can put on the Christmas card.

I failed......
So thank goodness for my good friend Jill & her husband Scott. They bundled up their little boy (the cowboy from the Halloween pictures) and headed out to Billings Park to snap some photos of our family. We definitely got some winners!

 

 

 

And just think, since it's long past Christmas you don't even have to wait in suspense to see which picture we chose!

A Day at the Museum

I've been dying to start to do all sort of fun kid stuff...so we started with the Duluth Children's Museum on Saturday morning. I'm not sure how much Kaleb was actually able to "do"- but he LOVED every second we were there. In fact, we almost had our first, full-blown meltdown while trying to drag his little body out of there.

The museum in Duluth isn't even close to being as big & amazing as the one in the Cities, but I think it's the perfect size for my little man right now.

S.O.B. (Save our Blog)!

So, I always wondered why my friends would go long stretches inbetween blog posts. Secretly I was thinking- come on people, how hard can it be to think of a couple of sentences and upload a few pictues....well my friends, to each of you I silently scolded....my heart-felt apologies!! It is unbelievable how such a simple thing can apparently take so much time that I goes weeks- ok fine, months, between posts.

In an effort to catch up, I'll load this one full of fun Kaleb facts and an array of pictues dating all the way back to October!

Kaleb just hit 16 months and is growing like a champ. He was in the 100th percentile for height and weight at his 15 month check up. He has started talking and putting signs together to make short requests. His favorite words are puppy, cracker, uh-oh, and Daddy. He only seems to scream Mama when he's sad or hurt. His daycare provider is wonderful with sign language and he has started signing things like eat please, or he'll bring a book- hold it up to you- and sign please, he loves to say thank you for just about anything as well. He is constantly moving around....I swear, from the moment he gets up in the morning until he goes to bed, his little legs are running, and running, and running.....

We had a really nice Christmas. We spent a few days in Ashland at Joe's parents house and then we headed home for Christmas morning. Kaleb and his cousins Dayton & Taya had a ball with each other- it is so, so, so fun to see them all interacting!! I can already tell they are going to be partners in crime when they get older.

Joe and I are busy busy. It seems like the weeks are flying by and the weekends go even faster. Joe has a fishing trip planned with his dad and brother next weekend and then I'm heading to the Cities with some girl friends the weekend after that for a little shopping, eating & relaxing!

Kaleb almost always has a smile on his face...

except during his Santa visit. He was stone-faced the entire time, we got a glimpse of a smile when Santa pulled out his bells though! Oh well, better than a sobbing little guy!!
